For a University Space Resisting Zionist Colonialism

We, the Tunisian academics, signatories below, declare our full support for the pro-Palestinian encampments on American university campuses.

We salute this American student-led university movement which is taking an important step towards the liberation of American universities from intellectual hegemony.

We consider it a noble expression of the just Palestinian cause and its rights in the global humanitarian sense, a clear message to the world about the need to oppose the Zionist occupation, and a challenge to the official US position that has long supported, protected and financed the oppressive Zionist entity.

We express our deep respect for their affirmation of the university's avant-garde role in the struggle for justice, in contesting the authority of power, and imposing the authority of meaning.

The domination of falsification and distortion cannot continue as long as there are minds who reflect and question deeply the narratives of history and geography.

This awakening and honorable stance would not have been possible without the steadfastness of the Palestinian people for many generations in which they faced with legendary courage the attempts of displacement, extermination, and erasure of their presence and right to their land.

We strongly condemn the repression and persecution suffered by students and professors in support of the Palestinian cause.

We call on our higher education institutions to reassess its relationship with US and Western universities on the basis of their respect of freedom of speech when it comes to expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people and their cooperation with higher education institutions based in occupied territories.
